Accommodation

Hostel — students, research trainees & postdocs

  • Shared hostel-style accommodation may be arranged on campus for eligible student / trainee categories (subject to availability). Confirm categories and hall allocation in your registration communication.
  • Indicative charges and GST will be announced by the conference secretariat; payment is typically on arrival unless stated otherwise.
  • Room availability is usually aligned with the main conference dates (5–6 Sept 2026) plus buffer nights if offered — check your confirmation email.
  • Meals during the conference may be served at the venue or designated hall mess as per the final programme.

Guest house — faculty, scientists & industry

  • Technology Guest House and other institute guest houses are often used for invited faculty and industry delegates when rooms are reserved in advance.
  • Present a valid photo ID at check-in. Tariffs are set by IIT Kharagpur guest house rules and may be revised; verify at reception.
  • Typical room categories include single and double occupancy AC rooms; billing is per night plus applicable taxes.

Travel

Reaching SMST, IIT Kharagpur — Kharagpur,India.

By air

  • The nearest major airport with frequent connections is Kolkata (CCU). From there, delegates often take a taxi or pre-booked car to Kharagpur (roughly 120–140 km depending on route) or connect by train.
  • Allow adequate time for road or rail transfers when planning arrival and departure.

By rail

  • Kharagpur Junction is a major railway hub with express and superfast trains from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and other cities.
  • The IIT Kharagpur campus is a short drive from the station; taxis, app-based cabs, and institute directions are readily available.

By road

  • Kharagpur is connected by National Highways. Use GPS for “IIT Kharagpur” or the conference venue building named in your registration pack.
  • Parking on campus may be limited; follow signage and volunteer instructions during the event.
